The MOE Innovation Fund

Our EC Team managed to secure a research project funding to aid the stroke patients. Est. funding for the project was $0.5million. The research project is headed by William Tan, Ng Chun Kee and Khiew Tzong Yong.

The MOE Innovation Fund (IF) aims to contribute to the Polytechnics' and Institute of Technical Education's (ITE) standing as innovative and world-class education institutions. It serves to encourage the Polytechnics and ITE to view innovation as part of their mission and fulfil the following specific objectives:
  • Enable new innovations which will improve or develop new products, processes and systems that generate economic payoffs;
  • Enable self-initiated applied research ideas to be developed to the point which demonstrates potential for product development or improvement that could attract industry funding;
  • Support the Polytechnics in building up capabilities beyond the few selected niche areas of Centres of Innovation (COIs);
  • Support the Polytechnics' and ITE's partnership with the industry, especially local SMEs, to augment technological capabilities; and
  • Improve the overall quality of Polytechnic and ITE education by updating and developing staff expertise and providing realistic project work opportunities for students.

The MOE IF funds innovation projects on a competitive basis across the Polytechnics and ITE. Each IF proposal submitted should have a minimum total project value (TPV) of $100,000 over two or three years. Applications for the IF are open only to full-time staff of the Singapore Polytechnics and ITE. For more information on the IF guidelines, please click here.
