ITE-IBM Assistive Technology Award 2009

ITE-IBM Assistive Technology Award 2009 - Our EC team won the Most Original Award. The team won $500 on top of the certificate of achievement. The team was led by William Tan. The project was selected for entry to participate in iCreate 2009 student design challenge in Apr 09.

Appreciation Lunch for SRG participants

The lunch was hosted by our Principal and organised by EC DR. The lunch was specially catered for our students and staff who had achieved outstanding results in the SRG competition.

The teams from CW were:

EC/BB - 2 staff, 9 students
EC/BR - 3 staff, 7 students
MCE/BR - 1 staff, 4 students
EC/DR - 2 staff, 7 students
ME/DR - 4 staff, 11 students

APEC 23rd Annual Micromouse Contest

The APEC (Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition) 23rd Annual Micromouse Contest, 2009 was held at the Marriot Wardman Park Hotel in Washington DC, United States on 16th Feb 2009. This year, there were participants from Singapore, Taiwan, India and US.

Our students from the Electronics Department (CW/DR), Lim Yong Siang and Leong Yew Kwong represented ITE to participate in the event. Yong Siang won the 1st runners-up and defended the Best Student Award, which was won last year.

Principal Meet Parent (NCT Group)

A meet parent session was organised for the NCT group of students for their parents to meet the Principal of ITE College West, Dr Yek. In the session, parents has the opportunity to find more about the course that their child is doing how are they doing thus far with ITE.

The event was held on the Friday evening of 20 Feb 2009.

Remedial Classes

A series of Maths remedial classes are conducted by the EC Team in preparation for the coming March exams. The lessons are conducted on Friday afternoons where all the classes has ended. The turn-out for the lesson was very encouraging. Our staff deserves a pet on the back for going an extra miles for our students.

A small makan session was ogranised to motivate our students and create opportunity for staff student bonding.

Consultancy Project - SP Services

Our staff Ng Chun Kee managed to get a project from SP Services to replace one of their controller board for one of their exhibit. The project will help expose our staff to real industrial needs and keeping ourselves relevant.

Farewell Lunch for the Nanjing Group of student on Exchange

A farewell lunch was organised for the Nanjing Team of staff and students, the lunch was hosted by Principal ITE College West. Present at the lunch includes the managemment team and staffs involved in the exchange programme.

ITE Graduation Ceremony 2009 (5071 Batch)

The graduation ceremony for our very first batch of the Nitec in Security Technology was held on 4 Feb 2009. The students had turn up in smart jackets and dresses for ceremony.

A total of 61 students from the batch of 76 completed successfully for the course. Many of them managed to get a place either in the poly or a Higher Nitec course.

南京信息职业技术学院 - 学生交流活动

A group of staffs and students from Nanjing College are here on a student exchange programme from the 1 Feb till 18 Feb 2009. The programme is supported by the School of EIT across the 3 ITE colleges.

They will be staying at CE International Hall and a series of activities and short courses are planned for them during their stay. The overall event was in-charge by Siok Bie from EC DR.
